Tel Aviv's Sde Dov Airport will continue operating this Saturday despite an order from the Air Force Rabbi to the control tower operators not to work in violation of Shabbat, Army Radio said. Both civilian and military flights are coordinated by the Air Force tower. The rabbi's decision drew furious protests, most notably from reserve IAF pilots employed in civilian airlines Arkia and Israir, which operate from the airport. The pilots threatened to stop arriving to weekend training flights, saying their civilian wage would be severely curbed by the decision. "If the IDF cares about us keeping the Sabbath, we can perfectly well do it with our own families," one of them told Army Radio.
