Students slowing down traffic on Jerusalem Tel Aviv highway

Dozens of students were slowing down traffic on route 1 in the direction of Jerusalem Thursday to protest the protracted senior lecturers strike that has cast the future of the academic year in doubt. The students left Tel Aviv University for Jerusalem in a procession of cars and were driving slowly along the road. The Council of University Presidents announced early this week that if an agreement with the professors was not reached by Sunday they would suspend all activity, including research, in all universities, which would de facto bring about the cancellation of the academic year.
