Billionaire brothers Yuli and Sammy Ofer have sold their beachside Herzliya villa for $24 million, the most expensive house ever sold in Israel, reports www.local.co.il. The house, located on an eight-dunam block next to the Sharon Hotel and currently rented to the Keter plastics company, is now slated to be pulled down. The report did not identify the buyer and did not say what is being planned to replace the house. The Ofer brothers own the Zim shipping company and numerous shopping malls and real estate holdings inside and outside the country. According to the report, the most expensive house sold in Israel before the Ofer sale took place was 18 months ago, when a villa in Rehov Galei Tehelet in Herzliya Pituah sold for $21 million. Another top-end sale took place recently when businesswoman Shari Arison purchased an $18 million penthouse in a luxury apartment building being planned in Tel Aviv's Rehov Hashoftim.
