Hod Hasharon - Easy win expected for Adiv

Hod Hasharon Mayor Hai Adiv should easily win re-election over his four rivals in the coming municipal mayoral ballot, reports the Hebrew weekly Yediot Hasharon. A recent poll of 500 Hod Hasharon residents by leading pollster Mina Tzemach's Dahaf Institute found that Adiv received 46 percent of the vote, enough to take him back into the mayoral chair for a second term without any second round. Mayors must receive at least 40% of the vote to be elected. According to the report, the poll was conducted among a representative sample of Hod Hasharon voters in late October and carried a margin of error of 4.4 percent. The results showed Adiv winning 46% of the vote, Yoav Rosen winning 22%, Haim Shabi winning 10%, Yoav Levy winning 5% and Moshe Erez gaining three percent. Fourteen percent of those questioned were still undecided on whom to choose. The poll also asked voters which issue should be given first priority by the newly elected mayor. Some 38% said improving the low level of education, 33% said transportation problems, 13% said lack of development of weak neighborhoods, 8% said emigration of young people and 1% said religious-secular tensions. Seven percent said they did not know.
