Hod Hasharon working toward long school day

Hod Hasharon is planning to enable elementary schools to remain open until 5 p.m. in the coming school year, reports www.local.co.il. Mayor Hai Adiv has instructed the city's education department to prepare a program that will help working parents by keeping children at school until that time for the relatively low fee of NIS 590 per month, with the option of paying extra for hot meals. According to the report, children remaining at school until 5 pm would be kept in groups of 15 to 20 with others of their age, under the supervision of a teacher or student teacher. They would complete homework under supervision and would participate in various extra-curricular activities. Students requiring extra help would also be able to have private and remedial lessons at certain times.
