Students to get city help with exam fears

The city of Netanya has decided to subsidize workshops for secondary school students to help them overcome their fear of examinations, reports www.local.co.il. It will be the first time any Israeli city has funded such workshops, which students normally take and pay for privately. According to the report, the workshops, which are held for groups of eight at a time, aim to help students deal with the tensions and pressures they feel before exams. A municipal psychologist said that because students were aware how important exam results were for their futures, many become terrified of failure. The report said that junior-high and high-school students in Netanya would be given the workshops before the start of the examinations period later in the school year.
