The Tel Aviv District Court has prohibited the Tel Avivim faction led by councilor Ron Levintal from using a voting slip marked with the words "Huldai Control" in the coming municipal elections, reports www.local.co.il. The court ruled that placing the name of Mayor Ron Huldai on the voting slips of a rival party would almost certainly mislead voters, and ordered that the name not be used. According to the report, Levintal's Tel Avivim faction sought and received permission from the elections management to use voting slips marked with the words "Huldai Control" above the party's name. But Huldai's Tel Aviv 1 list appealed against the decision to the District Court, arguing that the words, even if intended as denigrating, would mislead voters. Judge Sarah Gadot agreed, saying, "The use by the defendant of the words 'Huldai Control' not only may mislead, but is almost certain to mislead." No comment was reported from Huldai, but Levintal responded that "in contrast to others," his party respected proper management and the decision of the court. He added that his party would continue to defend Tel Aviv's residents by fighting against the mayor on bad decisions and by supporting him on good decisions.
