Adrian Gopliac was born in the Moldovan city of Chimishlia in 1990, shortly before the collapse of the former Soviet Union. Growing up, his only connection to Judaism was the knowledge that his mother’s father was a Jew.His paternal grandmother insisted she was Christian, despite the fact that the bedtime prayers she taught him were somewhat abstract, and she and her husband had a picture of the Temple Mount hanging on a wall of their home.
