Assad meets with Saudi FM in Damascus

Syrian President Bashar Assad on Wednesday met with the visiting Saudi foreign minister in the latest step to improve relations between the two Arab nations. Prince Saud al-Faisal left the country shortly afterwards. The Damascus visit came after years of tense relations between Saudi Arabia and Syria. The two are on opposite sides of a range of issues including Damascus' close relations with Iran.
