Syrian President Bashar Assad on Wednesday met with the visiting Saudi foreign minister in the latest step to improve relations between the two Arab nations.
Prince Saud al-Faisal left the country shortly afterwards.
The Damascus visit came after years of tense relations between Saudi Arabia and Syria. The two are on opposite sides of a range of issues including Damascus' close relations with Iran.
