Hamas, Fatah supporters scuffle at Fatah-controlled Gaza university
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF
Palestinian officials have shut down a Gaza university Monday, after two female students were injured and professors assaulted in a scuffle between supporters of the rival Hamas and Fatah movements.
The incident took place at Al-Azhar university. The school is one of the few institutions still controlled by Fatah in the Gaza Strip
University officials say the unrest broke out after Hamas supporters defied a ban on political activity. One witness says the whole university was covered with green Hamas flags.
The university is expected to remain closed on Tuesday as well.
