Hamas says it's not bound by any referendum on peace with Israel

Hamas says it won't necessarily accept the results of any Palestinian referendum on peace with Israel. Earlier Monday, former US President Jimmy Carter said Hamas wouldn't undermine Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' efforts to reach a peace deal with Israel, as long as the Palestinian people approved it in a referendum. However Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said Carter's comments "do not mean that Hamas is going to accept the result of the referendum." Carter's spoke in Jerusalem after meeting with top Hamas leaders in Syria last week.
