The chief UN nuclear inspector says his agency is taking allegations that Syria has a hidden atomic program very seriously.
Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, is also urging Damascus to cooperate in the probe of the allegations and calling on other nations with relevant information to step forward.
ElBaradei, speaking Tuesday, declined to confirm that uranium had been found in environmental samples from the main suspect site - a Syrian facility bombed by Israel on suspicion it was a covert nuclear reactor.
Diplomats told The Associated Press on Monday minute traces of uranium had been found in environmental samples from the site.
