An Iranian man was saved at the last minute from the hangman's rope this week when the family of the friend he murdered seven years ago forgave him, the Iranian Young Journalists Club reported.

The victim's family will instead receive compensation for their son's death, which the victim's father has vowed to use to build a soccer school.
