Iran's Rafsanjani: US trying to "enslave" Iraq with security agreement

One of Iran's most powerful cleric-politicians says the US is trying to "enslave" Iraqis through a long-term security agreement being negotiated between Washington and Baghdad. Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Wednesday that the agreement represents "a danger to all nations of the region." He said the "essence of this agreement is to enslave the Iraqis before the Americans" and vowed that the Iraqis and "the Islamic nation" would not allow that to happen. Rafsanjani, a former president of Iran, is the head of one of the country's most powerful clerical governing bodies.
