The Lebanese have been told to dispense with their traditional peck-on-the-cheek greeting - ubiquitous all over this Arab nation - to avoid contracting swine flu.
Lebanese Health Minister Mohammed Jawad Khalife urged people to follow simple hygiene precautions and advised students with colds to stay at home and farm workers to wear gloves and masks.
Lebanon is free from swine flu but has banned imports of pig livestock and uncooked pork even though swine flu doesn't spread through food and experts have said it is safe to eat pork.
