Quartet to meet in Egypt on November 6

The Quartet of Middle East peacemakers will meet November 6 at Sharm e-Sheikh to assess progress in Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, a senior Palestinian official said Wednesday. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity as the meeting's date has not yet been announced, said the gathering would be at the "highest level" and would include US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The forum is intended to hear progress Israeli and Palestinian negotiators have made in their talks. Rice had asked Egypt to host the meeting before US President George W. Bush's term ends in January.
