Report: Bush calls IAF strike in Syria an 'important preemptive strike'

US President George W. Bush called the IAF strike in Syria an "important preemptive strike" during his visit to Israel, the American Defense News weekly on Monday quoted an Israeli official as saying. According to the report, Bush spoke during a closed discussion on the Iranian threat last Wednesday. The newspaper estimated that the Syrian facility was at a very advanced stage; the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem did not comment on the report. On Saturday, The New York Times reported that new satellite imagery taken by a private American firm shows that Syria was building a new facility where the last one was bombed in Dir a-Zawr.
