Report: IAF attacked a Syrian army base

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) claims Israel attacked a Syrian army base near Damascus early Sunday morning.

Several loud explosions were seen and heard near the al-Mazzah Airport in Damascus early Sunday morning. The UK based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) claims that the explosions were the result of an IAF attack, Syrian state media denies any Israeli involvement and claims the airport suffered from "technical problems."
"The [al-Mazzah] army base was not exposed to any Israeli aggression", a Syrian army official was quoted as saying.
Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on various occasions that Israel will not tolerate an Iranian military presence in Syria.
Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said last week that he is worried from signs the US is gearing up for a series of attacks in Syria and claimed he warned Washington from "illegal aggression."
Meanwhile, Russia announced it intends to hold naval exercises in the Mediterranean between Saturday and September 8, 30 fighter jets and 25 battle ships will take part in these exercises .
