Report: US strike helicopters attack Syrian targets near Iraq border

US strike helicopters have attacked targets in Syria, near the Iraq border, Channel 10 reported on Sunday night. Western defense officials told the television channel that US troops were carrying out a military operation against global Jihad activists in Syria. Syria's official news agency SANA, said that the Bou Kamal border area, in eastern Syria was attacked, but did not identify the helicopters. According to the Channel 10 report, four US military helicopters attacked a home in a small town by the Iraqi-Syrian border. Reuters quoted residents as saying that a house was targeted, and that seven men - a man and his four sons, and two bystanders - were killed. US soldiers apparently disembarked from one of the helicopters, carried out a search in the town, and left the area.
