Solana: EU willing to work with Syria if Damascus changes policy

The EU is willing to renew negotiations on cooperation with Syria if Damascus changes its policy and complies with EU demands, EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana told journalists in Tel Aviv Friday. Three years ago, following the assassination of then-Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri, the EU refused to sign a cooperation agreement with Syria. Demands on Damascus include preventing arms smuggling to Hizbullah.
