The US military says an American soldier has been killed by an armor-piercing bomb south of Baghdad. A statement says the soldier died Monday when a explosively formed projectile went off near the Shiite holy city of Karbala. US officials believe the projectiles, known as EFPs, are manufactured in Iran and shipped to Shi'ite militants.
