US military: Two US troops killed in shooting in Iraq

The US military announced on Tuesday that two American troops were killed after coming under small-arms fire while distributing humanitarian aid in northern Iraq. A senior US military official in Iraq said that preliminary reports indicated that the shooter was wearing an Iraqi army uniform and opened fire from a distance. He said that the attack occurred as the troops were passing out blankets Tuesday afternoon near Baaj, west of the volatile city of Mosul.
