The fifth round of talks between Israel and Syria scheduled for early next week in Istanbul have been canceled, as reported on Saudi-owned satellite TV network al-Arabiya Thursday. According to the report, Syrian President Bashar Assad told French President Nicolas Sarkozy that the reason for the cancellation was the political situation in Israel.
