Police have arrested two suspects from the town of Baka al-Gharbiya on suspicion of carrying out a deadly robbery in Hod Hasharon last month, as well as carrying out another murder.
The suspects, named as Ahmed Akawai, 20, and Alaa Abu-Moch, 21, who were arrested earlier this month, allegedly carried out armed robberies in Tel Aviv and Ra’anana as well, police said, following the lifting of a media ban.
Both men have denied the suspicions against them.
The Kfar Saba Magistrate’s Court extended their custody by 10 days on Tuesday.
During a robbery on a jewelry store in Hod Hasharon in August, the store owner was shot dead after chasing two suspected armed robbers who raided his business.
The homicide victim, 42- year-old Yehuda Veizelberg, chased the robbers after they made off with stolen goods.
Veizelberg followed them out of the store and gave chase, when one of the suspects turned around and opened fire on him in broad daylight on the street, striking and killing the store owner.
The two suspects are also believed by police to have been behind the brutal murder of Amjad Saeed, in Baka al-Gharbiya in July.
