A 13-year-old boy who was critically injured in an ATV crash while filming his bar mitzva video last week died on Tuesday at the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv.
Nehorai Danino was hurt when the ATV he was riding in flipped over in the sand dunes outside Yavne, near Ashdod. He was airlifted from the scene by helicopter in critical condition, and by Sunday had been listed as brain-dead.
Twenty-year-old Chen Elfasy of Yavne is now under house arrest on suspicion of having had a role in the crash and attempting to cover up his involvement. He spent four days in custody but was released on Sunday.
Police believe Elfasy is the owner of the ATV and that he fled the scene and later washed the vehicle in an attempt to cover his tracks.
The investigation is continuing.
Over the weekend, while Danino was still fighting for his life, his father, Shuki Danino, told reporters that “all of the family, all of those close to him, all those visiting – are always trying to add their prayers. It’s all there is that’s left to do.”
