Dror Chanin, first Israeli casualty of Operation Protective Edge, laid to rest in Yehud

37-year-old Chanin was volunteering at the Erez crossing passing out food to soldiers when he was killed by a fragment of a mortar shell.

The first Israeli casualty of Operation Protective Edge was laid to rest in Yehud on Wednesday afternoon.
A fragment from a mortar shell killed Dror Chanin, 37, of Beit Ariyeh, at the Erez crossing to the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday evening.
Chanin had come as a civilian volunteer to distribute food to soldiers at Erez. He is the first Israeli to be killed by enemy fire during Operation Protective Edge.
Hundreds of people attended the funeral, including President elect Reuven Rivlin.
