Critically wounded boy critically injured while filming Bar Mitzva video on ATV; man suspected of owning ATV arrested.

Moments after Nehorai Danino flipped over and was critically injured Wednesday while involved in filming a video for his bar mitzva, Chen Elfasy fled in the ATV that Danino had fallen from.He took the vehicle to be washed in an attempt to destroy evidence, police said during a remand hearing for Elfasy on Thursday.The 20-year-old Yavne native was arrested by Rehovot police on Wednesday, not long after Danino was evacuated by helicopter from the scene, in critical condition.Danino, the suspected “owner” of the vehicle, told police that he was lent the ATV by a friend named Shimon Ohana, and that the idea of filming the video in the sand dunes of Yavne had been suggested by Nehorai’s father, Shuki Danino.Regardless, police interviewed dozens of witness to the incident, including the cameraman filming the video, and were able to locate Elfasy within hours.On Thursday, the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court ordered Elfasy’s remand extended until Sunday, as police work on the case, which will probably include charges of causing injury through negligence, destroying evidence and obstruction of justice among others.The accident that left Danino fighting for his life came on a day that saw seven Israelis killed in traffic accidents in one of the bloodiest tolls on Israel’s roads in years.Those dead include two young mothers killed when their cars collided head-on on Highway 40 in the Negev.
