The American magazine Newsweek and website The Daily Beast on Monday named opposition leader Tzipi Livni as one of the 150 most fearless women in the world. The website dubs her as "one of the most powerful women in the country," and says that she is known for her honesty and integrity. The magazine also notes that Livni is the first woman to serve as Israel’s opposition leader.
The list ranges from state leaders such as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Angela Merkel to influential bloggers and protesters, and celebrities such as US actress Angelina Jolie and British soul singer Adele. The selection of "women that shake the world" spans from Detroit to Kabul.

In a reaction to the publication, Livni told Army Radio that, "on top of the personal compliment, it's good that an Israeli woman features on the list."Newsweek
and The Daily Beast were hosting their third annual "Women in the World" summit this week, in which Clinton was slated to participate. She joined a line-of of many other prestigious women including Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep and Liberian Nobel Peace Prize recipient Leymah Gbowee.
In the framework of the event, Tzipi Livni was set to speak with historian Simon Shama, about "Israel on the brink," The Daily Beast announced.
