US based software company PTC Inc. invests $7 million in new Technion robotics center

Within the framework of the $7 million investment, PTC will finance the creation of the center and its operational costs for the first 3 years.

The Technion - Institute of Technology signed an agreement with US based computer software company PTC Inc. in support of the establishment of a center for robotics and digital content in the department of Education in Science and Technology.
Within the framework of the $7 million investment, PTC will finance the creation of the center and its operational costs for the first 3 years. In addition, PTC employees will take part in the various activities of the Robotics Center and will make its software available to Technion students.
“The Technion is considered one of the leading academic institutions in the fields of engineering and technology and such cooperation is another step in the advancement of technological education in Israel and abroad," said Ziv Belfer, Manager of the PTC Israel development center.
Both sides also favorably view the possibility to expand the cooperation to include Technion institutions in the US and China.
PTC Inc.  specializes in 3D design software and product lifecycle management . The company’s customers include some of the largest manufacturers in the world, including Toyota, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Caterpillar, General Electric, Samsung, Dell, Toshiba, and Motorola. In recent years, PTC has named its Israeli office, established in 1991, as a strategic development center and as a result has tripled its size in less than a decade.
