Comedian and political commentator Bill Maher caused an uproar on social media after cracking an incest joke about Ivanka Trump and her father, US President Donald Trump, on his HBO program 'Real Time' Friday night.

In an interview with New York Magazine's Gabriel Sherman, Maher discussed Ivanka's political influence in the White House and then took it a step further by suggesting, via gesture, that her influence includes performing sexual acts on her father.

"A lot of us thought, oh, Ivanka's going to be our saving grace, you know," Maher stated.

"When [Trump's] about to f***ing nuke Finland or something. She's going to walk into the bedroom and, you know... daddy, daddy (sexual gesture) ...don't do it daddy," Maher said.

Warning: This video contains explicit language and suggestions of a sexual nature.

People, including some of his own fans, have taken to social media to express their outrage over Maher's crass joke about the first family.
