Russian President Vladimir Putin said he has three pieces of advice for women who want to maintain their figures: "A workout machine, a masseuse and a suitor."
Speaking Friday to policewomen on International Women’s Day, Putin focused mainly on traditional family life in his speech, which was reported by the Russian website Tsarizm. He told the policewomen that, "Our women’s ability to achieve success is remarkable. You manage to cope with everything at work and take care of the family," the report said.
Putin spoke to the policewomen about women's traditional role of mothering and the "miracle of childbirth."
"This great happiness of motherhood and child-rearing transfigures this world, fills it with kindness, gentleness and sympathy and asserts the traditional values that have always made Russia strong," he said.
Russia has a declining population and low birth rate.
He did praise the policewomen for their efforts, calling them "reliable" and noting the great responsibility for Russia's security that they bear.
"You are capable of feeling the subtlest nuances and taking a competent and creative attitude to any undertaking,” Putin said. “It is hard to imagine the history and development of our country without the creative contribution of the great women of Russia. These days there are no professional heights you are unable to achieve.”
According to Tsarizm, Putin also made note of the female officers' good looks when he said that the rate of suicide drops when they are on duty because the sad people "look at you and want to live again."
