A superb second half performance by captain Itzik Halifi (above) helped ASA Tel Aviv to its third straight handball State Cup in Ra’anana on Tuesday. ASA beat local powerhouse Hapoel Rishon Lezion 29-26, with Halifi scoring five of the team’s goals. “Words can not describe how I feel,” Halifi said. “I’m proud of all the players and the club. I’m on the top of the world. The season is not over yet and we also want to win the league championship.” ASA led 15-12 at the break and opened a six-goal margin (22-16) at the start of the second half. Rishon, which hasn’t won the cup since 2001, closed to within a single goal (26-25), but Tel Aviv held on and claimed a fifth cup in club history.
