A superb second half performance by captain Itzik Halifi (above) helpedASA Tel Aviv to its third straight handball State Cup in Ra’anana onTuesday. ASA beat local powerhouse Hapoel Rishon Lezion 29-26, withHalifi scoring five of the team’s goals. “Words can not describe how Ifeel,” Halifi said. “I’m proud of all the players and the club. I’m onthe top of the world. The season is not over yet and we also want towin the league championship.” ASA led 15-12 at the break and opened asix-goal margin (22-16) at the start of the second half. Rishon, whichhasn’t won the cup since 2001, closed to within a single goal (26-25),but Tel Aviv held on and claimed a fifth cup in club history.
