WAFI Week 11 kicked off on Monday night with a meeting between Eden's Eagles and the Trumanettes. Coming into the game as undermanned underdogs, the Eagles managed to overthrow their opponent 32-6.
Quarterback Nili Tover opened the scoring on the first play of the game with a long touchdown run. She added another TD for the Eagles, who also got scores from Estie Fuhrer and Margalit Abell.
In other action, Phone4Less, Burgers Bar's game against the Storm was a fierce contest in which Phone4Less triumphed, 38-0.
QB Ariella Vogelstein connected with receivers Samantha Schulder, Ilana Hirsch, Aliza Kestenbaum, and twice with Karen Fessel, for TD's. On defense Kestenbaum, Fessel, and Vogelstein each had interceptions with nice returns in the shutout win.
In the feature game of the night, undefeated Big Blue took on Paige's Lakers. Paige's Lakers began with a score that shocked the crowd when Adi Taylor got the first touchdown of the season against Big Blue.
Playing from behind for the first time, Big Blue QB Shana Sprung led the team on five consecutive scoring drives, with two TD apiece to Yael Freedman and Ayelet Wartelsky. Sprung also recorded a touchdown of her own as Big Blue ran away with a 32-6 victory.
Extra points were scored by Jessica Sagoskin and Freedman, who has gotten into the endzone in each game thus far.
Elsewhere, Mishaan Plumbers took down PAYGEA, 31-0, behind a pair of scores from Esther Feldhamer and Ayelet Hecht. On defense, Elisheva Drellich and Feldhamer each had two picks.
In the last game, Law Office got its first win of the season after many devastating losses, shutting out Halachic Organ Donor Society 40-0. TD's were caught by Erica Hasten, Alana Gross, Melissa Goldstein, Lisa Ast, as well as a pair for Hannah Ziring.
Although Law Office dominated offensively, the real action happened on defense, where Emily Schlussel recorded at least 10 sacks and the team combined for 12 interceptions.
In men's action, the group playoff stage of the Talk'n'Save AFI Moshiko Men's Contact League enters its fifth week of play this weekend as several teams have already clinched their spots in the top 16 on the road to the Holyland Bowl.
While other teams fight to make the top 16, the remaining 40 teams in the league will complete in the following lower tier games: the Terem Bowl, the Moshiko Bowl, the Talk'n'Save Bowl, the Jerusalem Sports Medicine Cup, and the Yitzhak Fink Medics Cup.
