With Israel’s top-swimmers going through their final preparations for the
upcoming European Championships, it was the country’s budding stars which made
the headlines at the national championships at Wingate Institute over the
Sixteen-year-old Tom Kremer set a new under-18 record in the
200-meter freestyle final on Saturday, clocking a time of 1:52.55 minutes to
take the silver medal.
Israeli record holder Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or took
the gold, touching the wall in 1:50.31m.
On Friday, Kremer claimed
another silver medal in the 200m butterfly final.
Amit Bachar showed her
promise by taking two golds over the weekend.
Bachar won the 400m
Individual Medley in 4:56.55m on Saturday, a day after finishing first
200m fly final in 2:15.08m, the second best time ever by an Israeli
Israel’s top-swimmer Gal Nevo added two more golds to his vast
collection, winning the 200m fly and 400m IM.
Several other swimmers who
will be representing Israel in two weeks at the European Championships
Hungaryalso added gold medals to their personal tally.
Alon Mandel won
the 100m fly, Yuliya Banach finished first in the women’s 200m
Amit Ivri took the 50m fly and Guy Barnea claimed the 50m backstroke
