After losing its first two warm-up games ahead of next month's EuroBasket tournament, Israel finally claimed its first victory of the summer on Sunday. The national team defeated the Netherlands 88-68 in Leiden, Holland, avenging last week's defeat to the same team. Israel, which lost 79-72 to Germany on Saturday, led 45-42 at the break on Sunday and raced to the victory in the second half. Tal Burstein scored 21 points, with Lior Eliyahu adding 16 points and Yaniv Green, Gal Mekel and Guy Pnini each contributing 11 points. "We played much better tonight than we have done so far this summer," Israel coach Tzvika Sherf said. "The players gave their all. Our defense was excellent, but we are only at the beginning of the road." The national team will return to Israel today and will leave for London on Thursday for another warm-up tournament. The three-day "Game On At The O2" event will see Israel face Turkey on Friday, Poland on Saturday and Great Britain on Sunday.
