Israel wins promotion to second league after triumph in Sarajevo

Israel won the European Team Championships third League in Sarajevo on Sunday, gaining promotion to the second league. The national team's men and women picked up 413.5 points over the two-day competition, with second place finisher Moldova amassing 394 points. Seven of the events were won by the national team's athletes, with 10 other Israelis ending their competitions in second place. Alex Averbukh won the pole vault contest with a jump of 5.40 meters on Sunday. Ma'ayan Forman (high jump), Sivan Aballi (shot put) and Irina Lansky (100m hurdles) also all took gold medals.
