The Israel Juvenile National Baseball Team returned home to Israel on June 8 after finishing in second place in the Tuscany Series Tournament played in Grosetto, Tuscany.
After an opening game loss to Grosseto, Team Israel’s pitching staff buckled down and won its next two games, earning a place in the semifinals against the Nettuno Academy.
In the semifinals the team’s offense and defense continued to be strong and ensured them a 8-1 win and a place in the finals.
The championship game was scoreless through the first two innings, with makings of a great championship game. Then Montefiascone took a 3-0 lead and Israel scored a run to cut the lead to two runs.
Team Israel came up to bat in the top of the 6th behind by five runs. The bats came alive but the comeback came just a little too late, with Team Israel falling to the Italians 7-6.
