Alex Shatilov advanced to the final of the floor exercise on Saturday, becoming the first Israeli to reach an individual Artistic Gymnastics final at the Olympics.
The 21-year-old recorded a score of 15.600 and, with a slight improvement, could even claim a medal at next Sunday's final.
"I was angry in the morning with the score the judges gave me, but now I've got a chance to show I am better than everyone who finished ahead of me," said Shatilov, who placed eighth in the qualification round, the last position from which you advance to the final.
Shatilov, who came in seventh and fifth places respectively in the floor exercise at the last two World Championships, ended the All-Around competition in a surprising 25th place with 87.800 points, coming within just one position of reaching the final.
