US President Donald Trump boasted he has never felt better in his life on Sunday, squashing days of speculation about his health throughout social media.

“DC IS A CRIME FREE ZONE,” he added, referring to his recent crackdown on crime in the city.

Social media spread theories over the weekend about Trump’s health after several days of quiet from the president.

The hashtag “TrumpIsDead” trended on X when different accounts started to point out the lack of footage that official government accounts were releasing of Trump.

Trump, however, was seen on Saturday leaving a golf course in Virginia with his granddaughter, quelling the rumors.

False rumors of Trump's death are not new to social media, as the claim resurfaces on X/Twitter and Reddit every couple of months. According to Grok, X's AI-powered chatbot, posts speculating about Trump's possible demise had acquired over 1.3 million user engagements as of Saturday morning.

Alongside rumors of his death, internet users also speculated about the US president’s health, with theories involving his hands, bruises to his body, and the fact that he doesn’t wear a tie anymore being the norm.

One of these theories was finally confirmed when the White House explained in July that the president had been diagnosed with swelling in his lower legs and bruising on his right hand, after photographs emerged of Trump with swollen ankles and makeup covering the afflicted part of his hand.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, reading a letter from Trump's doctor at a press briefing, said that the swelling in his legs was from a "common" vein condition, and his hand was bruised from shaking so many hands.

Trump's crackdown on Washington crime

US National Guard troops began patrolling Washington carrying weapons last Sunday, weeks after hundreds of unarmed National Guard troops began patrolling Washington's streets after Trump declared a crime emergency in the district.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, two weeks ago, authorized the troops to carry weapons.

The Guard's Joint Task Force-DC said in a written statement on Sunday that its personnel would only use force "as a last resort and solely in response to an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm."

According to DC police data, there were 2,304 total violent crimes in 2024. So far, in 2025, there have been 1,680, which is down 27%.

“We greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD [Metropolitan Police Department] has been able to do in this city,” Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser said at a press conference last Wednesday.
