However, it will be a vastly changed lineup that will headline the Summer Rock 2012 show at Hayarkon Park on July 3 along with support acts Ugly Joe Kid and local favories Hayehudim.Front man Axl Rose is the only member still in the volatile band which has become somewhat of a poster child for rock & roll excess. Rose spent years working on the band’s album Chinese Democracy, which was eventually released in 2008 and despite going platinum, was considered by staunch fans to be a steep drop from the band’s heyday when it included charismatic guitarist Slash.Still, the band, which is being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next month, can still create a spark on stage, with Rose being joined by guitarists Richard Fortus and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (who performed here last year), bass player Tommy Stinson, formerly of postpunk legends The Replacements, and longtime keyboard player Dizzy Reed.Tickets for the show went on sale Tuesday night at the special introductory price of NIS 290.• David BrinnChagall works up for sale in TASotheby’s Israel has announced its first selling exhibition of selected works by Marc Chagall: “Chagall through the decades.” The exhibition includes 19 works by Chagall, the earliest dating back to 1914, through his latest work, dated to 1982 – thus revealing seven decades of the artist’s oeuvre.The exhibit reflects a wide range of themes which Chagall was dealing with through his artistic career, such as auto-portrait, lovers, village scenes, marriage and others.Estimates for each work are ranging from $40,000 to over $2 million.Sigal Mordechai, managing director of Sotheby’s Israel, said that “traditionally works by Marc Chagall are an eminent part of many collections in Israel, therefore we have decided at Sotheby’s to curate an exclusive exhibition of Chagall’s works with the belief that there is a high demand among Israeli collectors, as well as the international art collectors who come to Israel during Passover.”The exhibition runs April 9-12 at the Hilton Hotel, Tel Aviv. • Jerusalem Post Staff
