The Istanbul Ballet Company will offer Israeli choreographer Beyhan Murphy's 'The Rose Garden.'

Moving from the most ancient of its musical and dance traditions to the contemporary idiom, from Byzantium, Sufi and whirling dervishes to the electronic age, the Istanbul Ballet Company will offer Israeli choreographer Beyhan Murphy's The Rose Garden in eight scenes with music arranged by world-music master Mercan Dede and performed live.
Meanwhile, the three-member Sigdam ensemble, also from Istanbul, will be here with an optimistic look at modern life in the non-verbal dance-theater piece Happy Day, that says daily happiness is more than possible - and is even probable, despite soulless high-rises, technology and all the rest.
Both will be at Suzanne Dellal in Tel Aviv on January 8 and 9. The performances are sponsored in part by the embassy of Turkey.
