For more than 30 years, choreographer Boris Eifman has led his company from spotlight to spotlight around the world. His St. Petersburg-based troupe is the most successful contemporary ballet company in all of Russia. Eifman has created over 40 works since being appointed artistic director of The Leningrad Ballet Ensemble, now the Boris Eifman Ballet. The union of Eifman’s dark, angst-driven choreography with his cast of technically brilliant artists has thrilled ballet lovers from Tokyo to New York City. This June, Boris Eifman Ballet will make their 10th trip to Tel Aviv in 11 years.During their stay at The Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, the companywill present two works, Red Giselle and Onegin. While Red Giselle willbe familiar to most Eifman fans, Onegin will enjoy its Israeli premierthis summer. Like many of Eifman’s previous works, Onegin was inspiredby the narrative poem Eugene Onegin by Pushkin. The score includesmusic by Tchaikovsky and a harder, rock edge by Sitkovetsk.
