Habima actress Ada Tal dies, 89

Actress Ada Tal died on Saturday. She was 89.
A contemporary of such as Shimon Finkel, Dvora Bertonov who diedrecently aged 95, and Nahum Buchman, Tal played some 80 roles over theyears, her last appearance being in the 1997 Habima Tales.
She was born in the Ukraine in 1921, and made aliya with her family in1925. She studied her craft at the Habima Studio, with Robert Donat inLondon and at Lee Strasberg’s studio in New York. She played the titlerole in The Diary of Anne Frank to great acclaim in 1957, winning theGnessin Prize for it that same year. The last real part she played wasAnfisa, the old nurse in Chekhov’s Three Sisters.
She spent the last years of her life at the Bayit Balev nursing home inRamat Hasharon and was buried on Monday at the Morasha cemetery in thatcity.
