Israel may not have a film nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars this year but an Israeli vodka company will be represented at this year's Academy Awards ceremony.
A bottle of the Israeli vodka Aviv 613 will be included in the gift bags - known as swag bags - of Oscar nominees at the awards, which are scheduled for March 2 in Los Angeles.
“We are very excited to share Aviv with Oscar nominated actors and actresses,” said Marc Grossfield, Founder and Chief Executive Officer in a press statement.
Aviv 613 is distilled from wheat, barley, olives, figs, dates, grapes and pomegranates and is produced in the Galilee town of Safed.
The swag bags at the Oscars include thousands of dollars worth of products, including chocolate, jewellery and cosmetics.
So for those who do not win a shiny golden statue of the bald man, at least some comfort may be found with some vodka from the Holy Land.
