Women’s Festival marks the centenary of Int'l Womens Day
Women's Festival in Holon celebrates decade and a half run, and Int'l Women's Day. Four day program to bring big names.

The annual Women’s Festival in Holon will celebrate two landmarks between March 9 and March 12. The festival marks the centenary of International Women’s Day and a decade and a half of the Holon event.The four-day program is full of big names and a wide range of artistic endeavor by leading performers in all manner of genres. One of the draws is 35-year-old Portuguese- born singer Lura, whose parents hail from Cape Verde. Her compositions are based on traditional Cape Verdean songs and incorporate influences from other areas of African and contemporary Western music.The festival also sees the return of Hollywood actress Anna Thompson, who was a guest of the Jerusalem Film Festival in 2000 when Amos Kollek’s Fast Food, Fast Women, starring Thompson, was screened. In Holon, Thompson will enlighten her audience about her work with Kollek.Elsewhere on the musical agenda, rock ‘n’ roll fans should enjoy the Women Sing to the King – Elvis Presley slot, featuring songstresses Riki Gal, Ruti Navon, Carolina, Tamar Eisenman, Yael Deckelbaum and Yael Krauss.And there are more golden oldies lined up with Idan Alterman and his Magical Mystery band performing hits by various rockers, pop acts and crooners such The Beach Boys, Lou Reed, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Sinatra and Prince.The festival also has plenty of quality entertainment for dance and theater lovers, including a tribute to Inbal Dance Company founder Sarah Levy-Tanai to mark the centenary of her birth, and a premiere of All the Time in the World, a play by Dafna Rubinstein about how a prostitute manages in a man’s world.For more information about the Women’s Festival: www.hth.co.il
