2009 British film season opens

Sponsored by the British Council, it will feature the best of British contemporary film, with special retrospectives focusing on British classics.

The Ninth Annual British Film Season is opening on Wednesday at the Haifa, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv Cinematheques, and at the Rosh Pina Cinematheque on February 9. Sponsored by the British Council, it will feature the best of British contemporary film, with special retrospectives focusing on British classics. A specific program will be devoted to the collaboration between director Joseph Losey and Nobel Prize winner Harold Pinter, who died recently and who wrote a number of acclaimed movie scripts. This program will feature The Go-Between, The Servant and Accident. Shane Meadows's Somers Town is the opening film and Michael Winterbottom's latest, Genova, and Kenny Gleason's Summer are also featured in the festival.
