Eatliz to play EXIT festival in Serbia
Local progressive rockers Eatliz will be joining luminaries like Arcade Fire, Pulp and Portishead onstage next week at the EXIT music festival in Serbia on July 9. Hot on the heels of a tour of the US and Canada which saw the alternative quintet perform at the South by Southwest showcase, their performance at EXIT was coordinated with the help of the Foreign Ministry and will lead the way for other Israel artists to play the festival in coming years, the band said in a statement. The Tel Aviv band is celebrating their tenth anniversary and the release of their album Teasing Nature

The Yardbirds to perform in TA
The Yardbirds, one of the seminal British Invasion bands of the 1960s that at various times included illustrious guitarists Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck among its ranks, will be landing in Israel for a show on October 29 at the Barby Club.
Of course, none of those those legends are with the current incarnation of the band, but original drummer Jim McCarty and rhythm guitarist/bassist Chris Dreja are, so there is justification for calling the outfit The Yardbirds. Among their hits in the mid-1960s were “For Your Love,” “Over Under Sideways Down” and “Heart Full of Soul,” and their tough, bluesy sound rivalled The Rolling Stones for true grit among the bands of the British Invasion.. The Yardbirds were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.

Israel, China renew cultural ties
China and Israel established diplomatic, and then cultural relations 20 years ago. Against this background, Culture and Sports Minister Limor Livnat and China's Minister of Culture, Wu Kai, have renewed the agreement on cultural relations between the two nations.
The agreement calls for a vigorous exchange in all genres of the performing and plastic arts, entertainment, literature, education and more, with Chinese scholars/students, artists, performers and authors coming here and ours going there.
The intense fascination that Israeli culture evokes among the Chinese people, and Israel's curiosity about Chinese culture can “only enhance the diplomatic ties between our countries,” said Livnat at last week’s meeting in Jerusalem.
The Cameri Theater and the Israel Philharmonic are among the local cultural institutions that have visited China; Hebrew literature has been translated into Chinese and Israeli movies dubbed, among the rest.
