Beersheba theaters, movie cinemas halt performances due to rocket fire

The Beersheba Theater has temporarily closed down due to the rocket attacks hitting the city from Gaza, as have the city's movie theaters. All planned events at the theater were canceled, beginning on Wednesday and through Tuesday, January 6. More information will be available on-line as the situation becomes more clear. About a half-hour into a performance of 'Comedy of Errors' on Tuesday night at the theater, a rocket hit Beersheba and the audience was evacuated to a shelter. The Beersheba Theater will travel to Jerusalem to perform 'You¹re Only Young Twice' on Saturday night. The cinemas in Ashdod and Ashkelon were shut down by the Home Front Command, too, but the Globus theaters in the rest of the country are offering "soldier discounts" to Israelis who live in Kiryat Malachi and south of it upon presentation of an ID card. The discounts will remain in effect until the cinemas in the South are reopened.
