'Lebanon' to play in New York

Lebanon, a grisly story about the early days of the first Lebanon War, is up for 10 Ophir Prizes, including Best Film.

Shmulik Maoz's Lebanon, which will compete in the Venice Film Festival next month, has just been invited to participate in another film festival in the US. The New York Film Festival, organized by the Lincoln Center, is considered a "boutique" festival, as it focuses on ground-breaking films. Past participants include Mike Leigh's Secrets & Lies, Breaking the Waves by Lars von Trier and Ari Folman's Waltz with Bashir. Lebanon, a grisly story about the early days of the first Lebanon War, is up for 10 Ophir Prizes, including Best Film. The movie is a coproduction from Israel, Germany and France.
