Former Cullberg Ballet soloist Talia Paz hasn't formed a company. Instead, every so often, she'll present and dance in new works by local choreographers, a different format each time.
The first, featuring six pieces, is called Talia Paz and Guests - 60 Minutes and takes place at the Suzanne Dellal Center on January 25 and February 6. There are three premieres: "N(e)WS" made and danced by Eldad Ben Sasson, Michael Gutman and Talia Paz, "A, Bee, See!" created and danced by Batsheva dancer Hillel Kogan and Itzik Galili's "Cut Like the Palm" danced by Paz.
Yasmeen Godder to France and Japan
Award winning dancer choreographer Yasmeen Godder and her company are taking her critically acclaimed and popular Strawberry Cream and Gunpowder for a series of performances in Lyons and Paris at the beginning of February, followed by an appearance at the 11th Tokyo International Arts Festival. At DND's invitation, Godder will spend another 10 days at the center in order to make a new piece that will be a DND - Hebbel Theater, Berlin co-production. Strawberry Cream and Gunpowder is Godder's powerfully imaged take on the daily violence that has seemingly become integral to Israel's existence.
Born in Israel, Godder grew up in the US where she received her dance education and also the first of her many honors that culminated in a Bessie (the Oscar of the dance world) in 2001 for "I Feel Funny Today". In 2004 Godder received an Israel Cultural Excellence Foundation fellowship.
